Amphenol NEXUS Technologies connectors have become the standard in military and commercial communication headset markets where connectors are typically specified in OEM headset applications where “breakaway-style” audio connectors are required. Amphenol Nexus MIL-DTL-55116 Audio Connectors

Amphenol Nexus Technologies’ MIL-DTL-55116 (M55116) audio connectors consist of both MIL-SPEC and MIL-SPEC-type plugs and jacks (including “U-type” connectors) for use in a wide variety of defense and commercial radio and intercom systems. The plugs and receptacles are waterproof and polarized, offering superior performance in audio frequency circuits at 60 volts maximum potential or 0.5 amps maximum current.

These circular audio DIN connectors can utilize either crimp sleeve or solder cup contacts and are available with options like shielding, filtering and right-angle configurations. In-line audio connector plugs and receptacles are designed with a wire strain relief. Additionally, receptacles are available in panel-mount options.

Applications include ground, vehicle, airborne and naval communications.

Included in the Amphenol Nexus MIL-DTL-55116 connector series are miniature M55116-type TAC connectors. These connectors address the growing demand for reduction in connector size and weight. At half the size of standard units, TAC connectors provide rugged and reliable performance in soldier-worn applications, radio systems and ruggedized communication systems.
